Creating Products with Variants in the Catalog System

Objective

This SOP outlines the steps to create both regular and variant products in the catalog system, focusing on the new product creation form and SKU generation.

Key Steps

1. Accessing the New Product Creation Form 0:54

• From the product screen, click on 'New Product'.

• A new product drawer will appear on the side.

2. Selecting a Catalog Item 1:06

• Choose the catalog item you want to create.

• For example, select '11 ounce black mug'.

3. Setting Up SKU for Non-Variant Products 1:25

• For items like mugs or tumblers, you can use a base SKU.

• This is optional; general SKUs will be pre-populated.

• Example: Enter a base SKU like '4567'.

4. Generating the Product SKU 2:24

• Choose between two options for generating the SKU:

  • PODP: Creates a hyphenated SKU with POD information.

  • Catalog SKU: Uses the catalog item SKU pattern with your base SKU.

• Click the button to generate the SKU.

5. Uploading Product Files 3:29

• If applicable, link to a template file URL for design (e.g., Canva).

• Alternatively, upload a print file by clicking 'Choose File'.

6. Saving the Product Record 3:44

• Click 'Save' to create the product record.

7. Creating a Variant Product (Candle Example) 4:01

• Select 'Candle' from the catalog item dropdown.

8. Selecting Variants for the Candle 4:31

• Choose the available fragrance variants.

• It is recommended to select all variants unless specific fragrances need to be omitted.

  • PODB: Generates a random string for the SKU.

  • Catalog SKU: Combines base SKU with fragrance information.

• Click 'Save' to finalize the candle product with all its variants.
